Designer Collaborations Create Fashionable Homewares

Miranda Kerr for Royal Albert

Miranda Kerr’s latest collaboration with Royal Albert is a collection of silver-plated giftware that combines traditional charm with feminine sophistication.

The model and designer, who has previously created stemware, glassware and teaware ranges for the British brand, took inspiration from nature and the colour palette of her garden.

“To me, the best kinds of gifts you can give are those that are really heartfelt, like a photograph of a moment you’ve shared,” Kerr said.

“I like to give gifts that someone can keep and treasure forever, so I wanted to create a gift range that feels really special.

Products includes picture frames, jewellery boxes and trays adorned with silver filigree butterflies and soft pastel hues.

“Inspired by my love of butterflies, the pieces are sophisticated, delicate and feminine, and are perfect for creating an intimate home environment or as a keepsake gift for your loved ones,” Kerr said.

Issey Miyake for Iittala

Cult Finnish design house Iittala and Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake have released a collection of homewares.

Available in Australia from October, the Iittala X Issey Miyake Collection features ceramics, glassware and textiles designed to celebrate the rituals of everyday life.

Drawing on the two brands’ shared philosophy of innovative yet timeless design, as well as the minimal design aesthetics of Japan and Finland, the collaboration ranges from dinnerware and vases to cushion covers and ‘table flowers’, many drawing on Miyake’s famed folding and pleating techniques.

“The textile items are created using not only the latest technology to fold and pleat the material but also delicate handwork,” Midori Kitamura, president of Miyake Design Studio, said.

Collette Dinnigan for Porter’s Paints

Australian fashion queen Collette Dinnigan has ventured into homewares, designing a collection of wallpaper in collaboration with Porter’s Paints.

Dinnigan has drawn on her passion for intricate craftsmanship and artisan materials, particularly the traditional Indian craft of wood block printing on fabric.

The collection includes three feminine, exotic motifs: Paisley Botanique, Fleur Diamant and Le Napoleon, each available in a choice of colourways — think aqua and gold or antique rose.
