Today’s Queen’s Birthday public holiday will be even the more sweeter for two of Australia’s most successful, and stylish, women.
Actor Cate Blanchett and fashion designer Collette Dinnigan have both been recognised for their contributions to their respective industries with Queen’s Birthday honours; Blanchett receiving a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for her “eminent service to the performing arts” and Dinnigan an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her “distinguished service to the clothing manufacture industry” and championing Australian wool.
Dinnigan, who stepped away from her eponymous fashion label in 2013 to focus on her family, described her most recent accolade as “huge”, telling The Daily Telegraph that it “hasn’t sunk in yet… It’s an honour”. Dinnigan has gone on to design collaborations for Aldi and Target, and is now focusing her efforts on interiors-including the recent refurbishment of iconic NSW seaside destination Bannisters By The Sea.
Congratulations to these two inspiring Australian women.
