This was a former 1920s Masonic lodge that had been renovated in the 1990s. I worked with the scale of the property but also added an intimacy to balance the vast rooms. We created a nook and put in a fireplace and we changed the configuration of the rooms, and generally gave it a warmer cosy atmosphere. We added narrow tallow wood floorboards throughout the hallways and bedrooms.
At the end of the project the whole house had a Mediterranean quality, I was inspired by the South of France I suppose. We reduced the size of the swimming pool and planted established palm trees. The result was an elegant and grand property.
